Short version
Audio for humans. Accessible for everyone. Every Hero Pitch ships with a transcript, keyboard-friendly controls, screen-reader labels, and no autoplay — so visitors can listen, read, or skip it without the widget getting in the way.
What the widget does
- No autoplay. Audio only starts after a deliberate tap, click, or key press.
- Real button. The play badge is a semantic button, not a clickable image.
- Keyboard operable. Tab to focus, Enter or Space to play and pause, Escape-friendly close.
- Screen-reader labelled. The badge announces its purpose and toggles its pressed state as audio plays and pauses.
- Transcript included. A discreet transcript button reveals the full text inline. No popover. No focus trap.
- Visible focus. Clear focus ring on every interactive element.
- Reduced motion. Pulsing glow and waveform animations turn off when the visitor prefers reduced motion.
- Language tagged. Each pitch is marked with the audio language so assistive tech reads the transcript correctly.
- Native fallback. A direct download link is always available inside the audio element.
- Single-play. Only one Hero Pitch on a page plays at a time.
What we deliver to you
- The mixed audio file (MP3).
- A plain-text transcript and a JSON transcript with the audio language code.
- The accessible widget snippet you embed on your page.
What we aim for
The Hero Pitch widget is designed to align with WCAG 2.2 AA behavior. The widget itself is built so it should not introduce accessibility barriers to a website that uses it.
The accessibility of your full website depends on the rest of your page — its structure, color contrast, alt text, navigation, forms, and so on. The widget is one part of that picture.
What we don't claim
We don't certify legal compliance with any specific regulation, including the European Accessibility Act, ADA, or Section 508. Compliance depends on your full product, your jurisdiction, and your audit process. If you need a formal conformance statement for your site, please consult a qualified accessibility auditor.
Found a barrier?
If something in the widget or on this site is hard to use with assistive technology, please tell us and we will fix it. Email hello@heropitch.net with what you tried and what didn't work.
Testing
The widget is tested with keyboard-only navigation, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, at 200% browser zoom, and with reduced-motion enabled. We re-test before each release that changes the widget.
